5G Architecture

The basic 5G basic architecture 

5G NR Service Based Architecture 

UE:-   User Equipment  

RAN:- Radio Access Network :- this could be be new eNobeB or we sat gNB.

UPF:-User plane function:- It important node of the architecture we can find here is PGW and SGW for the UP as we are expected to separate out the UP and CP in the NR.

AMF :-Access and Mobility Management Function : Just like MME in EPC expected to perform
function such as termination of Radio access network signalling on digital side, registration and connection management and mobility management and work with  ASUF for the authentication.

SMF:-Session Management Function : It is expected to  perform the function such as PGW,SGW and MME for the but on control plane side. can perform the function such as setting up and tearing down the session and traffic direction in the NW

PCF:-Policy Control Function :- works as a PCRF in the EPC  

UDM:-Unified data management :- provide security to the network.
  

NEF:-Network exposure Function help to connect hto other operator network and provide the information about the services to the other operators.

NRF:- NR Repository Function 

AF :-Application Function

AUSF:-Authentication Server Function
